...because it's important for a vocal coach to back their method with their own voice!

I guess you'd say my personal vocal style is pop/singer-songwriter but the principles I teach apply to all genres and styles. These recordings were done with only one microphone, meaning that I was unable to put Autotune on the vocals - so you can be sure that what you hear is an honest representation of my current singing ability. I'm still working on my voice - this is by no means the end product - but getting it to where I want it is simply a matter of putting in the time. I will be updating this page regularly as I record new songs and re-record improved versions of old covers.

As it stands, TFF has brought about huge changes to my singing ability when nothing else would, and I know that it can do the same for anyone else.

Hey, I'm Cam

Why did I create this site and why do I talk about strength training and the fundamentals of singing?

...I've always known what good singing sounded like, but doing it on the other hand, just seemed to be this riddle I couldn’t wrap my head around (let alone solve). Music in general made sense to me and I didn't struggle to learn instruments but singing seemed to be a whole other beast.

For years I kept trying to improve my voice but it was like I was banging my head against a brick wall and just burning money on coaches and programs. I’m sure I tried every method out there and none of it seemed to help. Some progress seemed to occur but it appeared to be at the whim of the singing gods.

Somehow though, I knew that it shouldn’t be this hard and I refused to believe that I couldn’t learn to sing the way I imagined myself singing.

My gut told me that there had to be something missing – there had to be something fundamental that just wasn’t being taught by the methods I’d tried.

So one day I just said, “screw it, I’ll figure it out myself”. I had no idea how I’d do it but I wasn’t getting anywhere with the standard approaches anyway, so why not?

Thankfully, my little adventure into the unknown paid off. I managed to discover a few things that absolutely transformed my voice. I realized that these weren’t just some handy little tricks or voice hacks - it was real vocal strength and the real fundamental things that were missing from my singing training all along.

I knew I was onto something because for the first time ever, progress came thick and fast and importantly, if I did the work, the progress was guaranteed

Finally, there was no more banging my head against a brick wall, hoping the singing gods would grant me a better voice. Instead, now I had ways I knew were guaranteed to not only improve my singing but would always be something I could rely on to provide a remedy for when I was having an off day.

So when I realized that I'd stumbled upon some things that actually worked and are rather uncommon and unconventional, I thought I better start putting it out there. Because I have these methods that have worked wonders for me and these concepts keep proving themselves over and over again, I decided to put this site together and to start offering lessons.

I don't consider myself some kind of all-knowing expert because I've encountered too many experts who claim to have all the answers (they don't and nor do I). Likewise, I always try to acknowledge the fact that I'm standing on the shoulders of giants in many ways - but as it stands, I've tried countless voice training systems and none have come close to the results I've got through the methods I've developed here.

I hope you receive as much benefit from these five fundamentals of singing as I have.

Cheers

- Cam
